Light across dark stone: institutional permanence
Application in preparation with the Central Bank of Bahrain

Custody that survives its custodian.

Institutional-grade Bitcoin custody. The keys are split across three independent institutions, in three jurisdictions, so no single party can move it. Not even us.

The institutional question

The real test of a custodian is what happens when it fails.

Most Bitcoin custody rests on a single institution. If that institution is breached, becomes insolvent, is seized, or simply walks away, the Bitcoin it held is exposed. The alternative is to stop depending on any single institution at all. That is what multi-institution custody does, and it is what Onramp MENA is built on.

The custody arrangement

Two of three independent institutions must agree before anything moves, and Onramp MENA is always one of them. The rule lives in the architecture, not in a policy we can change. By design, Onramp MENA does not act as a broker or exchange, custodies Bitcoin only, and does not offer yield.

What’s different

Bahrain signature on every authorisation

Once licensed, Onramp MENA signs first on every authorisation. The Bahrain entity sits on every transaction by design, not somewhere at the perimeter.

Independent jurisdictions

Bahrain, Canada, and the United Kingdom are three separate legal systems. No single court or regulator can compel the keys to move without engaging the others.

No privileged exit

Moving a vault follows the same quorum as any other authorisation. There is no back door for us to move the Bitcoin alone, and no way to hold a client’s Bitcoin against their wishes.

Why this holds

Credibility you can verify, not credentials you have to trust.

The model, not the brand

Multi-institution custody doesn’t rest on Onramp MENA’s reputation. It rests on a structure where two of three independent institutions must act together. The security is in the arrangement, not in a promise.

Independent by design

Onramp MENA is a Bahraini company that holds its own keys and will answer to the CBB for them. It is not a branch or a front end for anyone else’s platform.

Governance is the product

Separation of powers, no privileged exit, and the decisions that must never leave Bahrain: client acceptance, AML escalation, custody-authorisation policy. The governance is the thing being built.

If Onramp MENA disappears tomorrow, the bitcoin under custody does not.
